What is EMDR
A structured way to heal the past
When something overwhelming happens, the memory can get stuck in the nervous system, still feeling present years later. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, tapping, or tones, while you briefly focus on a memory. Over time, the memory becomes less distressing and a more adaptive belief about yourself can take root.
EMDR is a research supported therapy recognized in international treatment guidelines for trauma, including those of the World Health Organization.

Frequently asked
Will I have to talk about everything in detail?
No. EMDR usually requires far less detailed retelling than traditional talk therapy. You stay in charge of what you share, and your clinician paces the work with you.
Is EMDR hypnosis?
No. You are awake, aware, and in control the entire time. You can pause whenever you need to.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your history and goals. Some people notice change within a few sessions, while complex trauma often takes longer. Intensives can help you move through more in less time.
Can EMDR be done online?
Many clients do EMDR by secure video. During your consultation we will talk through whether virtual or in person sessions are the best fit for you.
Does insurance cover EMDR?
EMDR provided within regular therapy sessions may be covered by your in network plan. EMDR intensives are private pay, and superbills are available on request.
