More Than What Happened: Healing after sexual abuse through parts work and narrative therapy.
A gentle, self paced workbook for adults healing after sexual abuse, created by Yesenia Delgado, LMFT.
Sexual abuse can leave you feeling broken, ashamed, or defined by what was done to you. This workbook is built on a different belief: you are more than what happened.
Inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS) and narrative therapy, it helps you get to know the protective parts of you with curiosity instead of judgment, separate yourself from shame, and reclaim the story of who you are. You will never be asked to describe the abuse in detail.
Inside you’ll find:
• Safety and grounding tools, including your own pause plan
• Parts work exercises to understand your inner protectors and care for younger parts, gently
• Narrative exercises to name the problem, question shame messages, and notice how you survived
• Reflections on your values, your support system, and the next chapter of your story
• A personal healing plan, a 4 week check in, and notes to bring to therapy
Details:
• 28 page fillable PDF. Type directly into it or print and write by hand.
• Use it on your own or alongside your work with a therapist.
• Instant digital download for personal use.
This workbook is an educational resource and is not a substitute for therapy. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the IFS Institute.
